The Police Directorate (UP) declared today that the report regarding an explosive device at the Appellate and High Court in Podgorica was unfounded.
This morning, around 7:45 a.m., a call was made to the Court of Appeal’s phone number claiming that an explosive device was in the building during a trial involving members of an organized criminal group.
According to the statement, “Officers from the Sector for the Protection of Persons and Facilities promptly executed all planned preventive measures and conducted a counter-sabotage inspection, ensuring the safety of the premises, which confirmed that the explosive device report was false. Prior to this, police had performed a thorough counter-sabotage check of the Appellate and High Courts due to a trial involving organized crime members scheduled for today, thereby preventing the postponement of the hearing and ensuring the trial proceeded smoothly.”
The UP emphasized that, in line with the Emergency Preventive Measures Plan, both the Police Directorate and the courts synchronized their actions, ensuring all necessary measures were taken to safeguard the facilities and maintain trial proceedings, while effectively countering hybrid threats aimed at disrupting trials, particularly from organized crime groups. The Police Directorate successfully thwarted attempts to instigate public anxiety and undermine law enforcement agencies, motivated by a desire for delayed legal judgments.
“Once again, Police Directorate officers and judicial institutions have demonstrated a unified commitment to combatting organized crime through coordinated efforts, significantly lessening the impact of malicious actions, and maintaining high levels of security without halting trials, thereby laying the groundwork for the efficient functioning of courts,” said the UP.
