Montenegro’s Struggles Persist Against the Czechs, Falling Short in Plzen

The Montenegrin football team traveled to Plzeň aiming for a victory, but at the very least, they hoped to secure a point. Unfortunately, they left empty-handed, unable to end their negative streak against the Czech Republic.
The Czechs triumphed with a score of 2:0, marking their third successive victory in the World Cup qualifiers, while the “falcons” faced their first defeat after previous wins over Gibraltar and the Faroe Islands in March.
Robert Prosinečki’s squad fell short by two goals, a situation that realistically could have escalated to three or four had it not been for the heroic efforts of goalkeeper Igor Nikić, who made several crucial saves after Patrik Schick’s header made it 2-0 midway through the second half.
After the second goal, Montenegro struggled to find their rhythm, with their best opportunity arriving in the 87th minute, only for Nikola Krstović’s attempt from the goal line to be thwarted by home defender Jaroslav Zeleni.
The Czech Republic opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a goal from Adam Hložek. Shortly after, in the 25th minute, Montenegro thought they had equalized with a fine strike from Milan Vukotić, but it was ruled offside by assistant referee Stevan Jovetić.
