A Turkish national, TB (40), who was wanted by Interpol in Ankara, was apprehended on a sailboat in Bar. Meanwhile, a citizen from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) was detained in Herceg Novi on suspicions of fraud exceeding 240,500 euros, as reported today by the Police Directorate (UP).
The UP’s statement indicated that foreign individuals wanted by Turkey and Germany were taken into custody.
The border police arrested TB, the Turkish citizen, while he was on a sailboat in Bar. Interpol Ankara had issued an international arrest warrant for him to serve an eight-year and four-month prison sentence imposed by the High Court in Istanbul on February 22, 2018, for falsely impersonating a police officer and robbing an individual.
“Thanks to operational cooperation between officers from Interpol NCB Podgorica and Interpol NCB Tirana, the individual was located and apprehended on a sailboat within the waters of Bar port, after previously evading law enforcement in Albania,” the UP statement elaborated.
Additionally, through a separate operation, police officers in Herceg Novi arrested RD (31), a BiH citizen, based on data exchange between Interpol NCB Podgorica and Interpol NCB Sarajevo. An international arrest warrant had been issued by Interpol NCB Wiesbaden for him. He is under suspicion of committing multiple fraud offenses as part of an organized criminal group, which resulted in illegal gains amounting to over 240,500 euros at the expense of German citizens.
“Both individuals will be presented before the investigating judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica within the legally stipulated timeframe to decide on extradition detention,” the statement concluded.
