Designated Blood Sampling Times for Children with Developmental Disabilities

The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with health centers (DZ) across Montenegro, has established special appointments and a dedicated room in Podgorica for blood sampling and laboratory tests for children with developmental disabilities.
The announcement from the ministry emphasized that the aim is to enhance healthcare services for these children.
“We seek to create more accessible and secure conditions for children with developmental disabilities, minimizing stress and the wait for laboratory tests,” the statement noted.
It was mentioned that blood sampling will take place during specially designated times, in separate rooms, and in certain cases, at home through the patronage service.
According to the Ministry, in the Podgorica DZ, blood sampling is arranged in a dedicated room.
The Andrijevica Health Center will conduct sampling on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
At the Berane Health Center, sampling is organized via home visits by the healthcare unit, in coordination with the selected doctor and staff from the Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities.
As reported, the Bijelo Polje Health Center will offer sampling on weekdays in the laboratory diagnostics rooms from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, while for children unable to visit, home sampling will occur through the patronage unit.
The Herceg Novi Health Center will conduct sampling on weekdays from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM, while community service will carry out field sampling upon receiving a request.
For children with developmental disabilities, sampling at the Nikšić General Hospital is organized on weekdays from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM.
The Clinical Hospital Center in Kotor has set organized appointments for laboratory services for individuals with disabilities on weekdays from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM.
“The Ministry of Health will persist in implementing measures to enhance the accessibility of health services for children with developmental disabilities, aimed at fostering a system of equal opportunities for all,” the ministry expressed.
The department expressed gratitude to the non-governmental organization “You Are Not Alone” for endorsing the initiative and recognizing it as a crucial step in developing a system that ensures equal opportunities for everyone.
