With just 15 days remaining until the handball event in Germany, Montenegro is set to embark on its seventh journey at the European Championships in Munich, a venue previously host to the 1972 Olympic Games.
“Our preparations are going exceptionally well, and we’re eager for the European Championship to commence,” stated Miloš Vujović, the Lions’ left winger, following his recognition as the best Montenegrin handball player abroad today.
During the last European Championship held in Hungary and Slovakia, Montenegro secured 11th position with notable victories, most prominently against Slovenia and Croatia.
“It would be fantastic to replicate that success — it was a historic achievement for us. This serves as significant motivation; we aim to win again and bring joy to our fans,” emphasized the Gumerzabah handball talent.

Vlada Šola’s team will face their first test match tomorrow (Friday) in Stara Pazova against North Macedonia, followed by friendly matches against Croatia and Slovenia on January 4 and 5 in Poreč.
“I hope we can utilize tomorrow’s match effectively to prepare for the European Championship. The priority is for everyone to remain healthy,” Vujović remarked.
The European Championship kicks off on January 10, with Montenegro’s group adversaries being Hungary (January 12), Iceland (14), and Serbia (16). The top two teams will progress to the main round and vie for a spot in the handball “Landskes Arena” in Cologne.
“I believe we’re on the right track, and that the team is ready for a new challenge. Luck will play a significant role, and I hope everything aligns for us to achieve a commendable outcome,” concluded Vujović.
