The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management is set to fund the asphalting of rural roads within the Pljevlja municipality.
A contract amounting to 250,000 euros was signed today in Podgorica by Pljevlja’s Mayor, Dario Vraneš, and the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, Vladimir Joković.
According to the Mayor’s statement, Vraneš emphasized that investing in road and water infrastructure is “the foremost priority” for Pljevlja’s development.
“The local government is making progress in this area. Proper roads and water supply systems are essential for advancing agriculture, rural tourism, and even for establishing production facilities, generating new jobs, and adding value. Just two years ago, some areas on the outskirts of the city lacked proper paved roads. This cannot continue. By paving these routes, we can enhance the suburban zone, ideal for developing smaller establishments, and rejuvenate life in suburban areas. This autumn, we will launch urban and suburban transport, which will transform life in the Municipality. Adequate road infrastructure is a prerequisite for this transport initiative. Many young residents who work in the urban areas regularly request improvements in rural infrastructure to facilitate the construction of weekend homes, allowing them to enjoy nature more, as is the trend in many Western European countries. The sum of 250,000 euros is significant for us; we have established wonderful collaboration with Minister Joković’s team, and this is not the first time this year that our municipality has received support from the ministry. We are maintaining good momentum in infrastructure improvements, with a coordinated team focused on roads, probably the best in Montenegro,” stated Vraneš following the contract signing.
Joković remarked that the objective of the Ministry he oversees is to enhance operational conditions and foster the growth of farmers.
“The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management recognizes the effective work being done by the local government in Pljevlja. These funds of 250,000 euros will not only support road rehabilitation but also contribute to the development of the water supply system. Our aim is to invest in agricultural producers in Pljevlja, easing their operational and developmental conditions. Initiatives like the House of Agriculture and investments in water supply systems and roads illustrate our ministry’s commitment to acknowledging and supporting the vital role of agricultural producers in Pljevlja within the national framework,” Joković explained.
Vraneš and Joković concurred that collaborative efforts between the ministry and local governance yield the most effective outcomes, which are becoming evident on the ground. They committed to continuing their close cooperation.
