Officers from the Regional Security Center “North” have reported that they are intensifying their efforts to enhance security, monitor individuals of operational interest, and address criminal offenses and misdemeanors. As a result, they seized seven vehicles, checked 22 individuals of operational interest, filed criminal charges related to drug offenses, and detained several suspects.

In Berane, police conducted a vehicle inspection involving Podgorica license plates, driven by LS (22) from Berane, with NJ (28) from Podgorica as a passenger.

“During the search of both the individual and the vehicle, a PVC package containing marijuana was discovered on LS, while NJ was found with cocaine. Additionally, a handmade cigarette, also known as a joint, containing marijuana, was located in the vehicle,” the police stated.

Subsequent testing revealed that LS was driving under the influence of marijuana and cocaine, leading to his arrest for violating the Road Traffic Safety Act.

After gathering information, LS and NJ informed the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Berane about the incident. Upon his direction, charges were filed against both LS and NJ on suspicion of facilitating the consumption of narcotic drugs.

Police in the northern region confiscated six passenger vehicles, four of which belonged to individuals of operational interest.

“On this occasion, VT (47) from Berane, categorized as a person of operational interest and known for repeat offenses, was checked while driving a vehicle under the influence of marijuana and benzodiazepines. He was subsequently arrested, and the vehicle with Pljevlja license plates was seized for further inspection,” the police added.

The vehicles belonging to operationally interesting individuals VM (37), MM (47), GR (54), and IM (62) were temporarily confiscated for the necessary legal procedures.

“More than 400 individuals were examined in coordinated regional operations, including 22 identified as persons of operational interest. A national warrant was issued for MM from Rožaje, who is wanted by the Berane court to serve a six-month prison sentence for the crime of obstructing an official in the execution of their duties,” reported the police.
