The Montenegrin cadets remained unstoppable, even against a selection from a third world water polo giant. After victories over Hungary and Italy, the 15-year-olds, led by Nenad Vukanić, secured a convincing 10:6 win against Spain (4:1, 2:2, 3:2, 1:1), clinching 1st place in Group A and paving the way for an easier opponent in the quarter-finals.
These young “sharks” will face either Turkey or the winner of the Germany-Romania match on Friday.
Spain will compete against Greece, Italy will play Serbia, and Croatia, as the Group B winner, will challenge Hungary or the winner of the Malta-Netherlands match.
Montenegro delivered an impressive performance against Spain in front of a packed crowd at SC “Morač”. By the end of the first quarter, they led 4:1, and although the rivals narrowed the gap to 4:3, Montenegro responded with a 5:0 run, establishing a commanding 9:3 lead by the middle of the third quarter.
Stefan Kruta and Stefan Vraneš each netted two goals, while Đorđe Koprivica, Luka Savić, Danilo Savović, Marko Milinić, Petar Brnović, and Danilo Roganović contributed with one goal apiece. Goalkeeper Marko Pejović also delivered an outstanding performance.
