“Sharks Overcome Italy”

Today, the Montenegrin water polo team triumphed over Italy with a score of 11:9 (5:2, 2:4, 2:1, and 2:2) during the second round of the European Cadet Championship in Podgorica.
This marks the second victory for the Montenegrin water polo players in the championship, following their initial win against Hungary (11:8).
Under the guidance of coach Nenad Vukanić, the team showcased strong performance, initially leading 2:0 and finishing the first quarter at 5:2. They maintained a three-goal lead midway through the second quarter (7:4).
Italy managed to equalize for the first and only time with three goals scored in the first minute of the third quarter (7:7).
With goals from Danilo Roganović and Andrej Durutović, Montenegro regained the advantage at 9:7, a lead they maintained until the final whistle.
Marko Milinić and Đorđe Koprivica were the double scorers for the Montenegrin team, while Stefan Kruta, Luka Savić, Danilo Savović, Stefan Vranješ, Danilo Roganović, Andrej Durutović, and Luka Todorović each scored once.
For the Italian team, Tommaso Almasini, Francesco Corelli, and Federico Fumo each netted two goals.
In another match within the group, Spain defeated Hungary 9:7.
Montenegro’s next opponent will be Spain, scheduled for Tuesday at 21:00.
