Montenegrin Boxers Gear Up for World Championships in St. Petersburg.

Members of the Montenegrin boxing team, Bojana Gojković and Tomislav Đinović, will further their preparations for the World Championships in Liverpool in St. Petersburg, as announced by the Boxing Federation.

According to the announcement, Gojković and Đinović have completed the initial phase of their training in Žabljak, where they spent three weeks at a premier sports facility featuring professional rings and modern amenities, along with recreational areas in a tranquil mountain environment.

National team coach Nikola Ružić expressed satisfaction with their progress thus far, indicating that he anticipates similar success in St. Petersburg.

“St. Petersburg offers us excellent training conditions—an outstanding hall, the most modern facilities in Russia, a gym, accommodations, meals, and intense sparring sessions,” Ružić shared.

He pointed out that Gojković is set to spar with Karina Tazabekova, the European vice-champion and multiple-time champion of Russia, who is the top-ranked in the 54 kg category. Đinović will train with Vsevolod Šumkov, the European champion and bronze medalist at the World Championships.

“Our national team athletes are giving their all in each training session, and their improvement is evident. These weeks are crucial before Liverpool, and it’s vital they remain healthy and focused until then. We will depart St. Petersburg on August 12 for Sarajevo to participate in a strong international tournament, followed by two more weeks of preparation before traveling to Liverpool,” Ružić noted.

Ružić also mentioned that they would conduct their final preparations in Budva.

“We plan to bring in strong sparring partners from abroad, ensuring our boxers reach peak performance ahead of the championship. I am confident we will be fully prepared and will proudly represent Montenegro on the world stage,” he affirmed.

The President of the Boxing Federation of Montenegro, Aleksandar Klemenko, visited the Montenegrin boxers in St. Petersburg.
