The basketball players of Mornar had a chance in this match, as mentioned in the announcement, but Mihailo Pavićević’s team failed to capitalize on Borac’s difficulties.
The depleted team from Čačak managed to defend their home court, delivering Barani their 13th consecutive defeat and 19th of the season in the AdmiralBet ABA League, with a score of 90:71.
The final result doesn’t fully represent the match’s dynamics, as Mornar remained competitive until the midpoint of the last quarter. Yet, once again this season, the Montenegrin team faltered when the match tightened.
Mornar began strong, leading 7:2 at one point, but the home team took control from the middle of the first quarter and maintained their advantage.
While Borac extended their lead to double digits, Mornar fought back, managing to keep their composure even when trailing by 15 points (68:53) at the end of the third quarter.
However, a crucial 11:0 run by Pavićević brought the score to 68:64, but their momentum stalled as the players made critical errors both defensively and offensively, allowing Borac to surge ahead from a nine-point lead to a sixteen-point advantage (84:44) and seal the game.
Mornar now sits at the bottom of the standings with only one victory, while Cibona, in the relegation zone, has two additional wins.
