A fire that ignited in the Volujica area two days ago has been successfully extinguished overnight. This has been confirmed through subsequent ground and aerial assessments conducted by teams from the Bar Protection and Rescue Service.
The Municipality of Bar announced that throughout the duration of the fire, firefighters from Bar were actively on-site, working diligently to ensure the flames did not threaten nearby residential structures.
“At different phases of the operation, assistance came from the fire brigades in Petrovac and Ulcinj, the Port of Bar Protection Service, as well as aerial support from the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ airborne and helicopter units,” they noted.
The Municipality of Bar expressed immense gratitude to everyone involved in combating this extensive fire, highlighting the dedication and professionalism of the Bar firefighters.
“In the upcoming period, Bar firefighters will continue to monitor conditions on the ground to avert any potential resurgence of the fire,” they concluded.
Unofficially, the Bar Protection and Rescue Service informed “Vijesti” that conditions were extremely challenging, as the fire was extensive and spread rapidly.
Initially igniting near the Volujica stone quarry, one branch of the fire advanced toward the Zaljevo settlement, posing a threat to residential houses—an outcome that firefighters successfully mitigated.
Last night, reports stated that Volujica was “calm,” with the fire progressing towards the old Ćafe landfill above the quarry, where it was anticipated to halt at the cliff.
