“Future Without Defense Disqualified in Bucharest”

When a team allows 20 goals in just the first 16 minutes, with only one recorded save by the goalkeeper, it becomes evident that their chances of avoiding a complete disaster are nearly nonexistent.
The Budućnost Bemax handball team continues to break negative records, suffering yet another painful loss today. The former European champions were convincingly defeated by ĆSM Bucharest (44:16) in the 9th round of the Champions League.
This match marked the highest number of goals conceded by Budućnost in their history—surpassing the previous record of 40 goals against Valencia in 1998 during the Champions League semi-finals.
The knockout phase and playoffs, which already seemed difficult to reach prior to this match, are now even further out of reach.
It was clear from the first half at the “Multifunctional Hall” in Romania’s capital that the home team was in control, taking a six-goal lead (14:12) within just six minutes, with their advantage only increasing thereafter…
The only player showing promise for the “blue” team was Kalidijatu Nijakate, but despite her efforts, Budućnost found themselves trailing by nine goals (24:15) at halftime.
The second half proved even more disastrous, with Budućnost facing an 18-goal deficit—a scenario they had previously endured this season with a notable loss against Djer, marking the Podgorica club’s most significant defeat in history.
In the end, Nijakate performed well with six goals, while Tanja Ivanović netted five, Ivona Pavićević scored four, and both Anastasija Marsenić and Ivana Godeč contributed three goals each…
The home team was led by Kristina Neagu, a former Budućnost player during their glory days, who successfully scored seven goals in this match.
Vilde Ingstad was the standout player, scoring eight goals, while both Lora Flip and Aleksandra Dindiligan added five goals each.
Next up, Budućnost will host Debrecen on Sunday.
