The Derby between Crvena Zvezda and Budućnost Voli takes place tomorrow at 20:00 in the “Aleksandar Nikolić” hall, concluding the 20th round of the AdmiralBet ABA League.
While it wraps up the round, this match presents an opportunity for the “blues” to gain an advantage over the impressive “red-and-whites” in the standings, as well as securing home-court advantage in potential playoffs.
“We are committed to preparing as thoroughly as possible for this match. We know our opponent well; they are a Euroleague team with a deep roster and exceptional individual talent. Red Star has been performing exceptionally as a unit lately, coming into this derby after a double round in the Euroleague where they achieved two wins, so it’s going to be challenging,” remarked Budućnost coach Andrej Žakelj.
Red Star came out on top in their first matchup of the season within the regional league, beating Budućnost in Podgorica with a score of 75:73. However, looking at the standings shows that the “blues” have secured more victories over the 19 rounds played.
“We aim to pose challenges for Red Star, but we certainly are not just going to Belgrade to have a good showing—we have our ambitions and will strive to catch them off guard,” the Slovenian coach stated.
Budućnost believes that their edge lies in being more rested heading into the derby, planning to push the game into a fast and intense rhythm from the outset.
“This is another very crucial game for us. We are facing a rival who is in excellent form across all competitions, and it’s essential for us to prepare thoroughly and enter the derby eager to win,” stated Budućnost player Đorđije Jovanović.
