The capital city has allocated 22 thousand euros to enhance healthcare quality and improve working conditions for medical personnel by purchasing ophthalmological equipment for the Podgorica Health Center (DZ).

Mayor Saša Mujović and the director of Podgorica DZ, Dragana Durković, signed the donation contract today.

Mujović emphasized that this donation demonstrates the Capital’s commitment to investing in the healthcare system, particularly in primary care.

He expressed, “We must always remain aware that the greatest asset of a nation is the health of its people, and supporting healthcare institutions should always be a priority.”

“Through this donation, we aim to showcase our responsibility and highlight the significance of healthcare, along with our support for doctors who tirelessly strive to assist our citizens,” he added.

During discussions with health center representatives, he learned that only two ophthalmologists are currently employed there.

“This undoubtedly places a significant burden on them, but I hope that donations like this will create opportunities for expanding the staff, ultimately elevating the quality of healthcare,” Mujović stated.

He expressed gratitude to Durković for her efforts benefiting the citizens of Podgorica.

“As the Capital City, we will keep demonstrating our interest in their work and do everything within our capacity to support health facilities, all aimed at achieving greater satisfaction and better health for our fellow citizens,” Mujović concluded.

Durković thanked the Capital City for the timely donation, noting the rising demand for ophthalmological services amid a shortage of ophthalmological staff.

“We have a strong partnership with the Capital City, and I am pleased they recognize the importance of primary healthcare in Podgorica. I thank Mayor Mujović for this significant contribution to the residents of Podgorica,” said Durković.

The Capital and the Podgorica Health Center have pledged to continue collaborating on future initiatives aimed at modernizing primary healthcare and enhancing treatment conditions for all citizens of Podgorica.
