Montenegro Shaken by Two Devastating Family Crimes Yesterday
Montenegro was shaken yesterday by two horrific family crimes that highlight the severe violence concealed within homes. In Nikšić, SG (59) tragically beat his eighty-five-year-old mother, M. G., to death, while in Danilovgrad, Serbian citizen DR (42) brutally assaulted his partner AV (42) in front of her minor child, leaving her motionless and covered in blood.
In both incidents, medical personnel alerted the authorities, as they attempted to render aid to the victims.
Doctors fought for the life of a 42-year-old woman from Danilovgrad yesterday, who suffered severe head and chest injuries, placing her in critical condition…
He killed his mother.
The Police Directorate announced that the day before, staff at the Nikšić General Hospital had notified the Nikšić police on-duty service regarding M.G., who had been brought in with critical head injuries, necessitating her urgent transport to the Clinical Center of Montenegro.
“Upon receiving the report, the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica was informed, which initiated further measures to investigate the incident. The prosecutor conducted an on-site examination at the location where the victim resided with her son,” stated the Police Directorate.
They later received word that M.G. had sadly passed away.
“The state prosecutor updated regarding the new findings, confirming that the incident appears to contain elements of aggravated murder. Subsequent investigations led police to identify SG (59) from Nikšić, the son of M.G., as the suspected perpetrator,” the Police Directorate added.
They noted that further investigative actions revealed that SG had inflicted multiple severe injuries on his mother M.G., affecting her arms, legs, and head, classified by a medical professional as life-threatening injuries.
“At the direction of the acting prosecutor, SG was arrested on suspicion of committing the aforementioned crime and is to be presented to the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica within the legally required timeframe.”
The duty prosecutor has ordered an autopsy on M.G.‘s body.
He consumed drugs and then assaulted his partner.
On the same day that the domestic violence occurred in Nikšić, June 10th, DR from Novi Sad brutally attacked his partner AV in her home in Danilovgrad.
He is facing charges for domestic violence resulting in severe bodily harm, alongside facilitating drug use to the detriment of AV.
The police stated that they will seek to initiate misdemeanor proceedings against him for neglecting AV‘s child.
In a statement released late last night, the Police Directorate indicated that the Danilovgrad Security Department had received a call two days prior from medical staff that AV was transported to the Emergency Unit of the Clinical Center of Montenegro, unconscious and with serious injuries.
“A medical evaluation revealed significant injuries to AV’s head and chest, placing her in a life-threatening situation,” the police stated.
Officers from the Danilovgrad Security Department promptly informed the state prosecutor about the incident, undertook an investigation at the site, and implemented necessary forensic measures:
“Through diligent operational fieldwork, police quickly identified the suspect as DR (42) from Novi Sad, the emotional partner of AV. He was subsequently located in the area of Podgorica with the help of local officers. Notably, the suspect displayed visible injuries, as documented by a medical professional.”
“It is believed that DR supplied alcohol and handmade cigarettes containing marijuana to AV. Following their consumption, a verbal altercation escalated into physical violence, during which DR inflicted grave injuries upon AV. Upon realizing her unconscious state, he fled the scene, leaving AV‘s minor child unattended,” the Police Directorate reported.
The resident of Novi Sad was interrogated yesterday at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica, which has ordered his detention for up to 72 hours.
“The suspect permitted his emotional partner to use marijuana, and then, while both under the influence of alcohol, inflicted severe life-threatening injuries upon her by constricting her neck, pushing her, and striking her,” the Podgorica State Criminal Police Office disclosed, announcing that DR was remanded into custody.
