Dončić makes Lakers debut, Jokić scores 40 points in Denver’s seventh consecutive triumph

Dončić Shines in Lakers Debut as Jokić Drops 40 in Denver’s Seventh Straight Win

Last night, Denver’s basketball team secured a 146:117 victory against Portland at home, marking their seventh straight win in the NBA.

The standout performer for Denver was Serbian player Nikola Jokić, who registered 31 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, three steals, and a block over 40 minutes of play.

Christian Brown contributed 26 points, while Julian Strother scored 18 points, and Jamal Murray added 17 points along with eight assists. Michael Porter Jr. and Russell Westbrook were sidelined due to injuries.

On the Portland side, Dalano Benton led with 22 points, followed by Donovan Klingan with 21 points, and Anfernee Simons with 17 points. Danny Avdija chipped in with 16 points, eight assists, and six rebounds.

Currently, Denver sits in third place in the Western Conference with a record of 35 wins and 19 losses, while Portland is in 13th with a record of 23 wins and 31 losses.

The two teams are set to face off again on the night between Wednesday and Thursday, the final game before the All-Star weekend break.

The Los Angeles Lakers also found success, defeating Utah 132:113 on their home court, achieving their sixth consecutive win.

LeBron James led the Lakers with 24 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. Austin Reeves added 22 points and nine rebounds, while Rui Hachimura scored 21 points. Luka Dončić made his Lakers debut, contributing 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists after missing the team’s first three games.

For Utah, Lauri Markkanen scored 17 points, John Collins secured 11 rebounds, and Jordan Clarkson added 16 points. Johnny Jusang and Volker Kessler each contributed 14 and 13 points, respectively, with Kessler also grabbing 12 rebounds. Isaiah Collier rounded out the scoring with 13 points and 10 assists.

The Lakers currently are in fourth place in the Western Conference with 32 wins and 19 losses, whereas Utah has suffered three consecutive defeats and now holds the 14th spot with 12 wins against 40 losses.

San Antonio claimed a 131:121 victory over Washington on the road, handing the latter its third straight loss.

Victor Wembanyama stood out for San Antonio with 31 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocks, while Dieron Fox added 30 points. Stephon Castle contributed 16 points.

Tristan Vukčević, a Serbian power forward, was Washington’s top performer, finishing with 20 points, six rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block in just 18 minutes of play. Rishaun Holmes scored 17 points, and Jordan Poole contributed 16 points.

San Antonio is positioned 12th in the Western Conference with 23 wins and 28 losses, while Washington is last in the East with a record of 9 wins and 44 losses.

Boston achieved a road victory over Miami 103:85, marking their sixth win in the last seven games.

The top scorer for Boston was Jayson Tatum, who tallied 33 points and eight rebounds. Kristaps Porzingis contributed 17 points and nine rebounds, while Al Horford recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Sam Houser added 15 points. Jaylen Brown and Jrue Holiday were out due to injuries.

Miami was without Tyler Herro due to illness; Bam Adebayo led the team with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Alec Burks added 13 points and seven rebounds, while Andrew Wiggins had 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists in his Miami debut. Serbian international Nikola Jović scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds in just 10 minutes of play.

Boston currently ranks second in the Eastern Conference with a record of 38 wins and 16 losses, while Miami holds seventh place with 25 wins and 26 losses.

Oklahoma defeated New Orleans 137:101, led by 31 points from Shea Gilgeous-Alexander, extending their winning streak to six games, while Brooklyn emerged victorious against Charlotte with a score of 97:89.

Sacramento triumphed over Dallas 129:128 in overtime, driven by DeMar DeRozan’s 42 points. Meanwhile, Atlanta secured its third consecutive win with a 112:106 victory over Orlando.

Cleveland continued its strong performance by defeating Minnesota 128:107, adding to their tally of seven wins in the last eight games, thanks to 28 points and 10 rebounds from Evan Mobley. Golden State’s Stephen Curry was pivotal in their 125:111 win over Milwaukee, scoring 38 points.
