“Velika: A Profound Wound and a Reminder of the Necessity of Peace”
Today, we commemorate 81 years since the tragic massacre of innocent civilians in the village of Velika, near Čakor.
By adopting the Resolution on the Genocide in Velika, Montenegro has shown its commitment to addressing its history—not to exacerbate divisions, but to foster a society based on truth, justice, and reconciliation.
Velika stands as a painful reminder that peace must always be upheld, and that kindness among individuals must prevail. Anything less would signify a collapse of humanity that we must continuously oppose.
Once again, we honor the innocent victims of Velika with heartfelt reverence.
