Hungarian Celebration in Kolašin as Women’s Volleyball Team Falls in Test Match
The Montenegrin women’s volleyball team faced a defeat against Hungary, losing 3:0 (32:30, 25:16, 25:17) in an official friendly match held in Kolašin.
This match served as a preparation for the final round of the European Championship qualifiers, and in a mutual agreement between coaches Caković and Chiapini, a fourth set was played, which Montenegro clinched 25:21.
Our players showed their best performance in the first set, where they even had a set point, but Hungary managed to turn the tide and secured the match lead after a total of 62 points.
In the following two sets, Hungary showcased significantly better gameplay. Coach Jovo Caković’s squad, missing experienced serve receiver Danijela Džaković due to a minor injury, scored 16 and 17 points in those sets, respectively. Montenegro has participated in every European Championship since 2015.
Hungary had previously been an opponent of our team in the league stage of the CEV Golden League, where Montenegro lost 3:1 in Kapošvar.
The national team welcomed back coach Tijana Tvrdišić and recovered players Melisa Cenović and Simona Petranović. Nikoleta Perović led in scoring with 19 points, followed by middle blockers Mina Dragović and Saška Đurović, who scored 11 and 9 points, respectively. Simona Petranović and Teodora Čavić each contributed three points, while Nevena Vukčević added one point. For Hungary, Anet Nemet was the standout scorer with 23 points.
This match against Hungary marked the only official game of three preparatory matches during training in Kolašin. The teams had played a closed-door match on Thursday and are set to meet again on Monday.
Montenegro’s team will continue its training at the facility in Kolašin until August 4, after which they will travel to Goražde to compete against Bosnia and Herzegovina on August 6 in the 3rd round of Group D for the 2026 European Championship qualifiers. The significant match for first place at EuroVolley against the Latvian team is scheduled for August 10, also in Kolašin.
