The Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, organized a reception for the players and coaching staff of Football Club Budućnost, celebrating their seventh championship title in the club’s history.
Mujović offered heartfelt congratulations to the players, coaches, and management on their achievement, noting that “Budućnost” has once again reaffirmed its position as a sports icon for the capital.
“This city administration has immense respect for those who bring honor to our city, and I believe you are the finest representatives of Podgorica, embodying our future. As a sports enthusiast, I must express how enjoyable it was to witness your brilliance on the field during a remarkable season,” Mujović stated. He also appreciated former director Novak Novaković, attributing significant responsibility for the club’s success to him.
“As the capital city, we are committed to addressing the needs of the club, and when preparing the next budget, we aim to increase funding for sports, particularly to enhance infrastructure. It is crucial to expand the existing facilities and to ensure Budućnost evolves into an institution that continues to succeed and nurture new talent. The city will remain supportive because we recognize how vital sports are to Podgorica, our fans, and especially the young generations,” Mujović added.
Deputy Mayor Nađa Ljiljanić remarked that Football Club “Budućnost” has proven this year that they deserve a premier position in Montenegrin football. She encouraged the players and coaching staff to maintain their momentum, particularly in this significant jubilee year.
“The championship title serves as additional motivation to pursue further successes in the domestic and European arenas. The Capital City Administration is dedicated to supporting you, and, as mentioned, an increase in the sports club budget is planned for the upcoming year. We are pleased to have allocated significantly larger funds to sports organizations this year,” Ljiljanić stated.
“We aspire for every club bearing the Budućnost emblem to excel in its sport. It is your responsibility to uphold the trust placed in you and, as you have thus far, demonstrate your true worth. You have our unwavering support, and I am confident that together, we will celebrate many more successes,” remarked Balša Špadijer, the Secretary of the Secretariat for Finance.
The head coach of FK “Budućnost,” Ivan Brnović, expressed gratitude to the mayor and his team for the reception and their continued support. He commended the players for their character, work ethic, and commitment, noting that this city should take pride in them. Brnović emphasized that their first-team efforts have particularly highlighted young players, making it one of the most successful seasons in the club’s history. He remembered the late sport director Andrija Delibašić, dedicating every match to him. “This season was incredibly successful, yet emotional and challenging for us. We promise to continue working hard and to be ready for Europe,” he concluded.
Budućnost captain Petar Grbić thanked the Capital City for their support on behalf of the players, expressing pride in his team and confidence that they would continue to give their all on the field. “As captain, I take pride in this team, which has treated each other like family throughout all the matches alongside the younger players. We understand expectations are high, and we hope to have some luck during the draws. I can assure you that we will all strive for this crest,” Grbić stated.
