“Strengthening Democratic Processes: How Electoral Reform Brings Us Closer to the EU”
The Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Filip Ivanović, expressed his approval today following the adoption of a set of electoral laws designed to rectify significant shortcomings in the current electoral system.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated, “I applaud the passage of this legislative package, which addresses the most urgent issues in our electoral framework. By scheduling all elections for a single day, we simplify the political landscape and redirect our focus toward decisions of substantial importance.”
He highlighted that, as we enter the final phase of the accession negotiations with the European Union, it is vital for key reforms to garner broad political backing.
Ivanović concluded with optimism, asserting that the consensus achieved regarding the initial version of electoral reform reflects a growing societal maturity and demonstrates a collective commitment to enhancing democratic processes and meeting EU obligations.
