The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management and “Tehnogradnja” have finalized a contract today to construct the House of Agriculture in Berane.
This significant infrastructure initiative aims to bolster agricultural development in northern Montenegro, as stated by the Ministry.
The contract was signed by Minister Vladimir Joković and “Tehnogradnja” director Mirko Bjeković.
This signing officially commences the strategic project, which will also extend to Andrijevica, Plav, Rožaje, and Gusinje.
“The House of Agriculture in Berane will provide jobs for 46 individuals. The facility will feature 664 square meters of usable space, 23 parking spots, and is being constructed on a plot of 1,400 square meters,” the announcement detailed.
The project, amounting to 1.3 million euros, is expected to be completed within a year.
The consortium comprising Tehnogradnja and Cema will handle the construction, while Nik-Com Nikšić will oversee the project.
Minister Joković emphasized that Berane, recognized for its fruit and livestock production, will now have centralized institutional support.
“The House of Agriculture is an investment in knowledge, expertise, and services available to every farmer, enhancing the capacity to utilize EU funds and improving market product competitiveness,” he remarked.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to establish a network of regional offices as a requirement of the EU accession process and the closure of Chapter 11 – Agriculture and Rural Development.
It is also being delivered under the MIDAS 2 project, which is financed through a World Bank loan.
Joković expressed confidence that the House of Agriculture in Berane will enhance institutional coordination, expedite service access, and empower local producers, all contributing to the sustainable development of rural areas.
