Such performances are rare even in Europe—Chicago’s basketball team managed to score only 24 points in the first half over 29 minutes. The Bulls suffered a dismal defeat against Detroit, finishing 132:91.
The Bulls’ struggles were perhaps best highlighted by Nikola Vučević, who humorously raised his hands in celebration after scoring 43 points at halftime, receiving a standing ovation from the fans at the “United Center.”
The first half concluded with the Pistons leading by 42 points (71:29), setting a new franchise record.
Moreover, Chicago established a negative franchise record by missing their first 20 three-point attempts, ultimately making only 7 out of 24, with an overall shooting percentage of 35%.
Only two Bulls players reached double-digit scores—Matas Buzelis (12) and Josh Giddy (11), while Vučević ended the game with eight points and seven rebounds, shooting 0 for 5 from three-point range.
On the opposing side, Malik Beasley led with 24 points, while Cade Cunningham contributed 20.
NBA legend Kevin Durant also made headlines as he became just the eighth player in league history to score 30,000 points during his career.
Despite his milestone, Durant’s teammates couldn’t come through, and Phoenix suffered a loss against Memphis (119:112). KD reached the 30K mark with a free throw at the end of the third quarter.
Durant now joins an exclusive group alongside LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Dirk Nowitzki, and Wilt Chamberlain, as Julius Irving scored points in both the NBA and ABA.
KD finished the night with 34 points, while Memphis secured their win thanks to Jha Morant’s 26 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
Karl-Anthony Towns had another stellar performance, scoring 40 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and dishing out five assists to lead the New York Knicks to a 128:115 victory over Indiana.
Josh Hart complemented him with 30 points and 10 rebounds, while Pascal Siakam was the standout for the Pacers with 24 points.
