The president of the Socialist People’s Party (SNP), Vladimir Joković, has convened an electronic meeting of the party’s Main Board (GO) for today, proposing that this body address the dissolution of the Herceg Novi SNP board and the termination of Radisav Nikić’s membership in the GO, as reported to Vijesti unofficially.
According to a report from Vijesti on Saturday, citing a source present at the GO session on Friday evening, the meeting was marked by arguments and confrontations among GO members. The session only continued after some SNP officials intervened to calm tensions and promote reconciliation.
Another source indicated that the session involved “debate”, described as “inappropriate”, though it was said to be “not a major drama”.
“At the end of the session, Joković spoke up, challenging members who criticized his performance. Discussions arose about whether the upcoming Congress should be held in Podgorica, whether to limit public access, to exclude guests, and to reduce the number of delegates,” the source explained.
Unofficial reports from Vijesti suggest that Joković engaged in a verbal altercation with Radisav Nikić during the meeting.
The SNP leader told Vijesti on Saturday that while there was a “verbal exchange” at the session, there were no physical confrontations. He asserted that the session was running smoothly until “a person writing from fake accounts (on social media)” made comments that provoked reactions from other Governing Body members, resulting in an “exchange of words”.
Last week’s General Assembly session was convened to prepare for the Congress. So far, the party’s vice-president, Dragoslav Šćekić, has announced his candidacy for the party’s top position. The possibility of Joković contesting against him remains, as the SNP Statutory Commission had approved his candidacy for a third term in early April.
