On Saturday evening, three children tragically lost their lives due to the collapse of an aging structure in Jablanica, near Gjakova, Kosovo.
The building fell under circumstances that are still unclear, resulting in the deaths of three boys aged 15 and 14 who were present during the incident.
Milazim Ljumi, a representative of the Kosovo police, informed local news outlets that the collapsed building had been old and unoccupied since the 1999 Kosovo war.
A family member of the victims, Perparim Ademaj, reported that surveillance footage from a neighboring property indicated that the building fell around 4:35 PM, with the children’s remains discovered nearly four hours afterward.
“Authorities, including police, ambulances, and firefighters, arrived swiftly. Unfortunately, we found them unresponsive,” he stated.
The State Prosecutor’s Office has announced an ongoing investigation into the case, and the victims’ bodies have been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for further examination.
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani extended her condolences to the bereaved families, while numerous political figures in the country called for a thorough inquiry.
