Budva is set to host the European Championships for boys and girls under 16 years of age (U26) from October 15th to 15th, organized by the newly established “World Boxing.”

The Boxing Federation (BSCG) highlighted that in recent years, it has distinguished itself as an exceptional host for various significant European and world championships, tournaments, and events.

“After participating under the auspices of the “World Boxing Federation” (IBA), BSCG has now gained the confidence of the new organization “World Boxing,” which was recognized by the International Olympic Committee in February this year, granting Montenegro the rights to host the European Championship (U15),” the statement disclosed.

The competition is scheduled from October 16th to 26th in Budva, with support from the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, and the Municipality of Budva, promising a spectacular sports festival in Montenegro’s tourism hub.

BSCG reported that this decision was unanimously reached at the Executive Committee meeting of “European Boxing,” which is part of the new “World Boxing” organization.

According to the statement, over the last five years, BSCG has been one of the most active federations globally in organizing major boxing events.

They noted that they successfully hosted four European Championships previously—two for youth, one in the U23 category, and one for senior women, along with three World Cups for youth, a European Cup for senior athletes, and last year’s World Cup for youth.

“All these competitions were conducted under the authority of the World Boxing Federation (IBA), which was the only recognized organization at that time but has since lost its Olympic status,” the statement added.

BSCG President Aleksandar Klemenko remarked that the trust extended by “World Boxing,” which has assumed a pivotal role from “IBA” in Olympic contexts, emphasizes Montenegro’s status as a respected partner in organizing top-tier sports events.

The statement emphasized that BSCG regards organizing such sporting events as strategically important, recognizing it as an opportunity to showcase Montenegro’s rich tourism potential and foster international friendships among youth.

Dane Lars Brovil, the President of “European Boxing,” in a letter addressed to BSCG, as well as to boxers, coaches, officials, and boxing leaders throughout Europe, expressed gratitude to the Boxing Federation of Montenegro, led by Klemenko, for their outstanding contribution, hospitality, commitment, and support in staging the first European Boxing Championship for under-15 boys and girls in a renowned locale.

“BSCG has a long-standing tradition of hosting significant boxing tournaments for youth, and with their proven dedication, we firmly believe that awarding the hosting rights to Montenegro was an exceptional decision, and that the European Championship will be conducted to the highest standards,” Brovil stated.

He also extended his appreciation to all boxers, teams, coaches, officials, volunteers, and boxing leaders across Europe for their unwavering efforts and dedication.

“This inaugural European Under-15 Boxing Championship transcends mere competition—it is a celebration of European Boxing as a continental body under the umbrella of World Boxing, committed to uniting boxing federations in Europe, providing a platform for young talents to excel and grow, and reinforcing our mutual passion for Olympic boxing,” Brovil remarked.
