Radomir Đalović Portrays Dragutin Spasojević
The title belongs to the past, a triumph that endures over time, but remains in the rearview mirror. Even after achieving the highest accolades, an athlete must remain driven for further success!
With these motivating words, Radomir Đalović inspired his players ahead of the second leg of the Cup final, leading to an impressive outcome – Rijeka secured yet another trophy, and the Montenegrin coach claimed the double crown in his inaugural season at the helm!
In the second leg held at Rujevica, after a 1:1 draw in the first match, Rijeka triumphed 1:0 against Slaven Belupo, marking their first double crown and the pinnacle of the club’s history.
“I demand energy, I want aggression, I crave hunger – I seek another trophy for this club and our city.”
The former Montenegrin national team player is an exceptional motivator, and Rijeka will remember him – akin to Dragutin Spasojević, who in the late 70s brought the Marshal Tito Cup to Kantrida, marking the first trophy in Rijeka’s history.
Đalović has taken the baton from the legendary Spaske and established new benchmarks.
Kvarner erupted in celebration following the championship title; the festivities were momentarily paused for the Cup final but are now poised to resume…
The decisive goal was delivered by Frenchman Nais Djouare – the player who once appeared in seven La Liga matches for Real Sociedad, scored a spectacular long-range shot in the 60th minute.
In the closing minutes, Rijeka had to defend with ten men after Luka Menalo received a yellow card in the 87th minute. The stoppage time lasted six minutes, yet the home team held firm, leading to another burst of joy in the stadium.
As the underdog in the face-off against Dinamo and Hajduk, Radomir Đalović captured both the championship and the Cup.
Is there room for improvement? Can it get even better?
