The Budućnost Voli basketball team triumphed over Primorje today in Bijelo Polje with a score of 96:83, securing their spot in the semifinals of the Montenegrin Cup.
“The Blues” carried out their task effectively in the “Nikoljac” hall. The Novi team fought back until midway through the second quarter, when Budućnost surged ahead with a 12:0 run, leading 45:33.
In the second half, Buducnost extended their lead to 24 points (67:43). Djordje Jovanovic led the scoring with 22 points, followed by Fletcher Magee with 21, Andrija Slavkovic with 17, and Yogi Ferrell contributing 16. Notably, McKinley Wright, though registered for the Cup, was absent from the game.
Coach Andrej Žakelj provided opportunities for young players Dušan Tičić, Vuk Krivokapić, Miloš Knežević, and Luka Živaljević, who capped off the match with a three-pointer.
“Despite lacking practice and being missing six players, we participated in the Cup final tournament. We met expectations and secured the win, which is the most crucial part. Congratulations to the host for their outstanding organization; the environment was warm and welcoming, making it a real honor for us. We now shift our focus to the semifinals,” stated Andrej Žakelj, the coach from Podgorica.
Aleksandar Danilović was the standout for Primorje, scoring 24 points, while Andrija Vučurović added 16, Dejan Bjelić contributed 13, and Novak Obradović finished with 10 points.
“I believe, as I mentioned earlier, we made our presence felt; the statistics indicate we performed even better in the second half, which is encouraging and motivates us for what lies ahead,” remarked Pavle Roganović, the Primorje coach.
Buducnost is set to face Mornar in the semifinals.
