Joković Seeks to Evade Personal Accountability

The suggestion by Vladimir Joković, President of the Socialist People’s Party (SNP), to propose the dissolution of the Municipal Board of SNP Herceg Novi to the Main Board reflects a significant political weakness and an effort to evade personal accountability, argued Milan Jančić, President of the Municipal Board of SNP Herceg Novi.
Jančić noted that while the SNP’s results in the local elections on April 13 in Herceg Novi were disappointing, these results stemmed not from the efforts of a single committee but rather from years of political neglect, lack of vision, authoritarian leadership, and the erosion of the SNP’s public reputation—issues directly tied to the policies led by Joković.
“A party that remains silent about scandals, fails to propose solutions during crucial political and social shifts, and allows itself to become a political extension of larger parties is destined for the sidelines. The local committee cannot be blamed for a decline in support for a party whose president has consistently avoided communication with both the members and the public, does not engage in campaigns, nor shows the necessary drive for leadership. The SNP in Herceg Novi lacked the resources, support, and even fundamental guidance from headquarters. Now, as the moment for accountability arrives, Joković is blaming everyone but himself,” Jančić asserted.
He emphasized it was especially telling that no other SNP municipal committee, which also performed poorly in parliamentary, presidential, or local elections, faced dissolution.
“Why is it only Herceg Novi? Why didn’t he assign a coordinator for the campaign here like he did in other cities, leaving the Herceg Novi committee without any support? It is now evident to all that Joković, through his personal dealings with certain municipal committees and individuals within the party, is actively undermining the unity of the SNP. I believe it is disgraceful to dispute with the party in such a manner and divide it at a time when we need calmness, solidarity, and trust in our capabilities,” Jančić continued.
He expressed his belief that once again, Joković would find himself in the minority.
“Anyone familiar with the values of the Socialist People’s Party—comprised of honorable and honest individuals—can see that Joković’s attempt to secure a majority through intra-party conflicts as the upcoming Congress approaches will not prevail,” said Jančić.
He reassured that the Municipal Board stands firm behind every action, every statement made before the public, and every engagement they conducted externally.
“We would do the same today because we refuse to compromise on matters that could offend our constituents. I also want to make it known that during the Main Board session last week, Joković told me in front of all members to reflect on why I was unable to form a coalition and why no one was willing to campaign with me. I would like to ask President Joković, who headed the listing for the last parliamentary elections, when we barely met the threshold, why no one wanted to partner with him. He assured us then that we should align with traditional coalition partners, and that this was certain. Ultimately, Demos showed up, and we are grateful. We achieved only 3.1 percent,” he remarked.
“Lastly, I want to emphasize: the SNP can change its committees, but unless it changes itself and the president who evades responsibility—it has no future. The Herceg Novi committee consists of quality, young, educated, and honorable individuals,” concluded Jančić.
