Three individuals from Novi Pazar, Serbia—EC (21), TM (18), and AK (20)—were detained on suspicion of attempting to murder Azerbaijani nationals AM (34) and Dž.A. (39) using a knife in Ulcinj last night, according to today’s announcement from the Police Directorate (UP).
AM and Dž.A. were injured last night in Ulcinj. Reports from Vijesti indicate that the attack occurred in an apartment near Velika plaza, where both victims were stabbed.
“Following coordinated efforts by officers from the Regional Security Center South, the Bar Security Department, and the Ulcinj Security Department, urgent measures were taken to investigate the attempted aggravated murder involving the knife assault on AM (34) and Dž.A. (39), citizens of Azerbaijan. The suspects—EC (21), TM (18), and AK (20)—were identified, located, and apprehended in Novi Pazar,” the UP’s statement reveals.
The suspects were arrested this morning around 5:45 a.m. in a location in the Donji Štoj neighborhood.
“After initial intervention and an on-site investigation conducted by the Senior State Prosecutor from Podgorica, officers from the Regional Security Center South implemented various operational and tactical measures. Through effective coordination and direction of police based on intelligence, reviewing numerous surveillance footage, examining the immediate vicinity, establishing blockades, and enhancing border control, conditions were created for the swift apprehension of the suspects around 5:45 a.m. in a building located in the Donji Štoj area,” the statement elaborates.
The UP also mentioned that evidence has been gathered suggesting that the suspects, as co-perpetrators, committed the crime of aggravated murder in an attempted form against the two injured parties in an Ulcinj apartment last night.
“The three suspects will be presented to the state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica within the legally stipulated timeframe, accompanied by a criminal report,” the UP stated.
Additionally, the UP expressed gratitude to “the citizens of Ulcinj who cooperated willingly and provided technical equipment to the police, enabling them to execute real-time deployments and prompt actions to pursue the suspects.”
