While Serbia’s strength has diminished, the Montenegrin water polo team has again realized that them should never underestimate their opponents, even when facing a younger squad.

This morning at the World Championship in Fukuoka, our national team suffered a defeat against the “dolphins” of the Nanon Fives (17:15), despite leading 5:0, 8:4, and 10:7 at various points.

“It was concerning when we were down 5:0, but we are capable of bouncing back. We’ve managed to do so several times before. With many new players on the team, every match serves as valuable experience for them,” commented Serbian coach Uroš Stevanović following the game, as reported by Sport Club.

He also reflected on the rivalry with our national team…

“The competition between the water polo teams of Serbia and Montenegro is intense and has persisted since the two nations gained independence, particularly following the European Championship finals in Malaga in 2008. That intensity was present again today. Those who attend should appreciate this contest,” Stevanović concluded.
