We Refuse to Tolerate Crime

The leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) and the Police Directorate remains steadfast against crime and against officials with ties to organized crime groups (OCG), emphasized Minister Danilo Šaranović.

Previously, the Police Directorate disclosed that a suspended officer, identified as SV, was arrested in Tivat for alleged connections to an OCG.

Minister Šaranović remarked that these incidents underline a critical point: the necessity of vetting within police ranks is unquestionable.

He stated that while vetting is essential, the only query is the speed at which it should be executed.

“If our decision establishes that combating crime is an absolute priority for the state, it indicates an unwavering commitment to integrity within the police. This current leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Police will not compromise—neither with crime, nor with officials connected to OCG,” asserted Šaranović.

He emphasized that ensuring complete integrity in the police service is not merely a goal but a foundational requirement for the ongoing battle against organized crime.

Šaranović noted, “All hybrid assaults and attempts to obstruct the cleaning of police from criminal influences are proof that we must persevere down this path.”

“Everyone invested in maintaining a secure state should support us in creating optimal conditions for police operations, safeguarding it from criminal interference, and thanking all officers who chose allegiance to organized crime over the Constitution, law, and integrity,” he stated.

Consequences await police officers acting in contradiction to these principles.

“The era where individuals served crime over the state is over. Now is the time for the state to robustly support honest and principled police officers, who constitute the vast majority within our ranks,” concluded Šaranović.
