After suffering a loss to Serbia, Montenegro’s water polo national team has opted for a tougher path in the knockout stage of the World Championship.
Coached by Vladimir Gojković, the team concluded the group phase in third place, trailing behind Spain and Serbia while surpassing South Africa. As a result, they will face the reigning European champions, Croatia, in the round of 10, scheduled for tomorrow at 6:00 PM.
The “Barracudas” secured the second spot in group C, triumphing over Japan and Argentina, though they fell to Hungary in a rematch of the European Championship final.
“We anticipate a challenging match; every game feels like a final for us now. The Croatian squad is the European champion, and we are preparing to give our utmost. Our previous game against Serbia was tough, but that’s in the past; today is a new opportunity,” stated Konstantin Averka.
In other round of matches, the schedule includes: USA vs. Canada (8:30 AM), Australia vs. France (11:30 AM), and Japan vs. Serbia (1:00 PM).
Greece, Italy, Hungary, and Spain have already secured their spots in the quarter-finals.
