The Buducnost Voli basketball team has advanced to the finals of the Montenegrin Cup, defeating Mornar Barsko Zlato 86:78 in the first semi-final held at the “Nikoljac” hall in Bijelo Polje.
The “Blues” will learn their opponent in the championship match after the second semi-final, featuring defending champions SC Derbi facing Teodo at 8:30 PM in Bijelo Polje.
The Mariners delivered one of their best performances this season; however, the superior quality and teamwork of Andrej Žakelj’s squad proved decisive.
The tense moment sealed by a crucial block from Jogi Ferrell against Noah Tomason with just 80 seconds remaining, with the score at 79:73, was pivotal. Following that, Kenan Kamenjaš scored from close range, extending the lead to 81:73, leaving little room for a comeback from the Barani.
Ferrell was the standout performer for Buducnost, scoring 21 points, while the team boasted an impressive 82 percent shooting accuracy from two-point range (33-27), compensating for their struggles beyond the arc.
Andrija Slavković contributed 14 points, Aleksa Ilić added 13, and Kamenjaš made notable contributions with eight rebounds and seven assists from the center position.
The Barani struggled, shooting only 41 percent from two-point territory, with Noah Tomasson leading their scoring with 24 points, followed by Lovre Runjić with 15.
