Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović stated that Croatia’s backing for the closure of Chapter 31 in EU negotiations—pertaining to foreign, security, and defense policy—holds significant importance during “this critical phase of our integration process”.

He revealed that a bilateral meeting with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković took place on the sidelines of the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit in Odessa.

“We engaged in discussions about the friendly bilateral relations between Montenegro and Croatia, acknowledging certain existing issues. I stressed that Croatia’s support is invaluable for Montenegro’s EU journey, especially regarding the completion of negotiation chapters. I highlighted that Croatia’s endorsement of closing Chapter 31—Foreign, Security, and Defense Policy—is particularly crucial for us in this pivotal phase of our integration process,” Milatović shared on Iks.
