An Indian national, identified as AD (37), has been apprehended today in a coordinated operation conducted by police officers from the Interpol NCB Podgorica and the Budva Security Department.
According to the Police Directorate, “AD from New Delhi was taken into custody based on an international arrest warrant issued by the NCB Interpol Washington and under the directive of a competent court in Texas. This action aims to secure the individual in criminal proceedings due to suspicions of involvement in a conspiracy to commit organized fraud, which carries a potential prison sentence of up to 20 years.”
The authorities suspect that AD had previously traveled to several European countries. Following an intelligence exchange between Interpol NCB Podgorica and the relevant US law enforcement agencies, the route of AD’s movements in Montenegro was determined. He was located and arrested in Budva municipality just one day after the international arrest warrant was issued, thanks to timely and coordinated efforts by the police officers.
The Police Directorate stated that it “remains firmly dedicated” to carrying out intensive operational activities within the framework of international police collaboration, particularly focusing on enhancing strategic partnerships with security services. The Directorate will continue to take measures aimed at locating, arresting, and prosecuting internationally wanted individuals, reaffirming its commitment to effectively combat all forms of transnational crime.
