I Hope to Make Real Madrid Fans Proud
The new coach of Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso, expressed his pride in taking on this prestigious role and is optimistic about achieving notable success with the team.
“I am succeeding Carlo Ancelotti, who was not only my coach but also a remarkable individual. His influence on my career has been significant, and I owe my presence here to his guidance. I will honor his legacy and strive to meet expectations while steering the club towards its objectives,” Alonso stated during his unveiling in Madrid.
After departing Bayer Leverkusen at the season’s end, Alonso has signed a contract that extends until June 2028.
“This is undeniably a momentous occasion for me. I am thrilled to return to a place I consider home. Though I’ve been away for several years, the bond with Real Madrid and its supporters has remained strong,” highlighted Xabi.
At Real Madrid, the objectives are clear.
“We possess a remarkable squad filled with exceptional players. I firmly believe we can accomplish significant feats that reflect Real Madrid’s stature. My goal is to ignite the passion of the fans and instill pride in them for the team they witness on the field. I have a strong sense that we can embark on an extraordinary journey,” Alonso remarked.
Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, shared his enthusiasm regarding Alonso’s appointment.
“Today marks a unique moment for all of us, ushering in a new chapter with a coach who is among the best globally and embodies the values of Real Madrid, fully understanding the significance of this crest and jersey,” he remarked.
Alonso notably clinched a double with Bayer Leverkusen last season, with his only defeat being in the Europa League final against Atalanta.
