Six Injured, Suspect Taken Into Custody

Mihailo Lakušić (23) has been arrested on suspicion of injuring six individuals with gunfire late last night in Podgorica, according to “Vijesti.”
DF (38) suffered a gunshot wound to the back. Other victims include 19-year-old V.Đ, four-year-old L.Š, U.Lj. (37), IM (25), and police officer IJ (43).
The Police Department announced that the shooting likely followed a fight at a bar.
“At approximately 00:18, the Podgorica Security Department received reports of an unknown person using a firearm in the outdoor area of a catering venue in the city center. In this incident, six people were injured; five sustained minor injuries to their lower limbs, while one person was shot in the back but is not in life-threatening condition,” the police stated around 1:00 a.m.
The injured individuals received medical care at the Clinical Center of Montenegro.
“Without delay, police officers promptly arrived at the scene, secured it, and took immediate actions to clarify the circumstances of the incident and identify the suspect, who was quickly determined to be LM (23) from Podgorica.” He fled the area after firing his weapon. Law enforcement conducted a scene investigation, established checkpoints, gathered information from numerous witnesses, and obtained video footage from several nearby buildings. Shortly thereafter, LM was located and apprehended on Fruškogorska Street in the Malo Brdo neighborhood,” the statement said.
The state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office in Podgorica was notified of the event and initiated an on-site investigation alongside police officers.
LM will be presented to the prosecutor’s office within the legal timeframe.
