Juniors Featuring Denmark, Iceland, and Lithuania
The Montenegrin women’s junior handball team has been drawn into a group alongside Denmark, Iceland, and Lithuania for the upcoming European Championship.
Scheduled from July 9-20, the European Women’s Handball Championship U19 will take place in Podgorica.
This year’s event will feature 24 national teams, split into six groups, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the main round.
After the U19 Championship, Podgorica will also welcome the top European U17 teams from July 30th to August 10th.
In this tournament, Montenegro has been placed in a group with France, the Czech Republic, and Lithuania.
The structure of the competition mirrors that of the European Junior Championships.
During the group stage, the 24 national teams will again be divided into six groups, with the two highest-ranked teams from each advancing to the next round.
“Having our country host two European Championships in the same year is a remarkable achievement. This is the first time in history that the European Handball Federation (EHF) has entrusted a single nation with such responsibility for two championships within a year,” the Handball Federation stated.
