Montenegro: Dubljević Out, Radebau Returns

The Montenegrin national basketball team has two upcoming matches in the European Championship qualifiers next week. Unfortunately, the team will be short-handed for the games against Germany on Thursday (19) in Podgorica and Sweden on Sunday (17:30) in Stockholm, as captain Bojan Dubljević will be absent.

Coach Boško Radović announced at a press conference that Dubljević’s absence is due to family matters.

With regard to foreign players, the Kendrick Perry era is officially over. Although the preliminary list included Charlie Moore and John Radebau, it became apparent that Radović would rely on the Murcia player for the qualifiers, given that Moore suffered an injury in mid-December. Radebau last played for Montenegro against Slovenia in 2022.

Additionally, SC Derbija basketball player Igor Drobnjak is on the list but is recovering from an injury sustained during the Cup tournament, which caused him to miss the final match against Budućnost Voli.

Montenegro stands in a strong position to qualify for its fifth EuroBasket, and its third consecutive one. The team’s current record is 3-1, and only an unexpected turn of events can prevent the “reds” from continuing in continental competition.

For this to happen, Montenegro would need to lose both matches, with all teams in the group ending up with 3-3, while our team would have the lowest goal difference, currently at plus 28.

The European Championship is scheduled for August 27 to September 14 in Finland, Latvia, Poland, and Cyprus.

The player list includes: Nikola Ivanovic, Vladimir Mihailovic, Igor Drobnjak, Petar Popovic, Luka Bogavac, Djordjije Jovanovic, Dzona Radebau, Balsa Zivanovic, Dino Radoncic, Andrija Slavkovic, Nemanja Radovic, Marko Simonovic, Marko Todorovic, David Mirkovic, Emir Hadzibegovic, and Zoran Nikolic.
