“We’re Driven: Honored to Represent the National Team”

The Montenegrin national basketball team is set to compete in two more matches in the European Championship qualifiers against Germany and Sweden. A successful outcome in these games will officially secure their place in the continental tournament.
With a current record of 3-1 and a positive point differential of +28, it’s widely believed that only a significant upset could prevent them from attending their fifth EuroBasket tournament. Such a scenario would require losing both matches while all teams end up tied at 3-3 and Montenegro having the weakest point differential.
The initial game of this series will see Boško Radović’s team facing off against Germany, the reigning world champion, on Thursday (19) at the “M:tel Morača Hall” (free entry). Coach Radović announced yesterday that captain Bojan Dubljević and Charlie Moore will miss this cycle, while Igor Drobnjak’s participation remains uncertain.
However, key players for the future—Luka Bogavac and Đorđije Jovanović—are prepared for these crucial matches. The SC Derbija and Budućnost Volija athletes were part of the young team that garnered a bronze medal at the Eurobasket A Division in Podgorica three years prior. Having been in the senior squad for some time now, they are expected to make significant contributions against the Germans and Swedes.
“We’re facing two challenging games against Germany and Sweden. We have three days to prepare for the upcoming match against Germany at the ‘M:tel Morača Hall.’ We’re hopeful to be ready, focused, and motivated to achieve victory in the first match, which will set the tone for the encounter with Sweden,” Jovanović stated.
The men’s basketball team has fostered a supportive atmosphere for years, a quality that young players can experience firsthand.
“Being part of the national team is both an honor and a privilege. It’s a joy to be among these players who have had significant careers. I always look forward to answering the call and playing alongside them in the national team,” Jovanović expressed.

The winger joined the national team following impressive performances with Budućnost.
“I believe this is just the beginning. It’s up to me to stay focused in every training session and game. I’m just getting started, and I see this as a solid foundation for what lies ahead,” stated Jovanović.
He also looks forward to receiving fan support.
“I hope to see a large turnout from the audience. Their encouragement means a lot to us. I believe it will be an exciting match for both players and fans,” he concluded.
Like Jovanović, Bogavac represents the future of Montenegrin basketball.
“We have two tough contests coming up. While we haven’t secured our place yet, we’ll do everything possible to put ourselves in a strong position after the first game. This is a serious team with numerous players who have succeeded on the national stage. It’s crucial for us to prepare thoroughly in the days leading up to the matches. There won’t be a lack of effort or motivation, and I urge the fans to come out and support us,” said the SC Derby player.

Bogavac has joined the national team following outstanding performances at SC Derby.
“Throughout the season, we’ve adapted to each other’s playing styles. Now that our roles are clearer, it’s made the game easier for everyone. I’ve been working hard, and I’m pleased that the coach and team recognize my efforts,” Bogavac commented.
