Tijs Signs with Monaco and Will Represent Germany, But Not in Podgorica
Monaco is poised to enhance their presence in the Euroleague, alongside Germany as they approach the final stage of the Eurobasket qualifiers.
Former New Orleans Pelicans player Daniel Theis has joined the “Princes” and has been included in the roster by world champion coach Alex Mumbru.
This player, who has been competing in the NBA since 2017, is among the world champions aiming to secure Germany’s spot at Eurobasket. However, unlike teammates Isak Bonga, Andreas Obst, Johannes Feujtmann, Justus Hollac, Johannes Thiemann, and David Kramer, he will miss the game against Montenegro at “Morača.”
Coach Mumbru has decided that Theis will play in the home game against Bulgaria, scheduled three days after the match with our national team, which will take place on Thursday at 19:00.
The German center has inked a one-and-a-half-year deal with Monaco, marking his return to European basketball for the first time since the 2016/17 season when he played for Bamberg in the Euroleague.
In addition to his time with New Orleans, he has played for Boston, Chicago, Houston, Indiana, and the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA. This past February, he was traded from the Pelicans to Oklahoma City, who released him the very next day.
