According to Monstat data, the average salary before taxes and contributions in May reached 1,01 thousand euros, reflecting a 0,5 percent increase compared to April.

Year-over-year, the average net salary in May rose by 21,9 percent compared to the same month last year.

The average gross salary for May in Montenegro was recorded at 1,2 thousand euros.

“Considering that consumer prices in May registered a rise of 0,6 percent from April, real wages for this period saw a slight decrease of 0,1 percent,” the statement noted.

In May, average net earnings experienced growth compared to the previous month in various sectors, including agriculture, forestry, and fishing (up by 3,1 percent), other service activities (up by 1,4 percent), and both manufacturing and accommodation and food services (each up by 1,2 percent). Additionally, sectors such as water supply, wastewater management, and waste disposal saw an increase of 1,1 percent, while wholesale and retail trade, along with motor vehicle and motorcycle repair, recorded a 1 percent growth.

Other notable growth was observed in the sectors of artistic entertainment and recreational activities (up by 0,9 percent), as well as mining and quarrying, professional, scientific and technical activities, administrative and support services, and health and social protection (all up by 0,8 percent). Transport and storage increased by 0,6 percent, while public administration, defense, and compulsory social insurance registered a 0,5 percent rise. Construction and information and communications sectors saw a minor increase of 0,1 percent each.

Conversely, average earnings before taxes and contributions in May showed a decline in the real estate sector (down by 6,7 percent), financial and insurance activities (down by 1,4 percent), and education (down by 0,3 percent). The supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning also noted a decrease of 0,1 percent.
