Richard Grenell, the US President’s Special Envoy for Special Missions, stated today that relations between the US and Kosovo have never been poorer, countering claims made by Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Grenell, who served as Donald Trump’s envoy, responded on “X” to Kurti’s declaration in Pristina media that US-Kosovo relations are “stronger than ever,” describing the Prime Minister as “misguided.”
“This is a misconception. Relations have never been at a lower level. Albin Kurti has faced condemnation from the first Trump administration, the Biden administration, NATO, the EU, the US Embassy, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and others,” Grenell stated on “X”.
Grenell echoed similar sentiments on February 3, emphasizing that neither the Trump nor Biden administrations have confidence in Kurti’s government.
“Both Republicans and Democrats have consistently criticized Kurti for unilateral actions that destabilize the region. The EU and NATO share this perspective. The international community stands united against Kurti. Claims that he enjoys better relations with the US than previous Kosovo administrations are entirely false. Do not be deceived,” Grenell wrote at that time.
