Spain Clinches Bronze Medal by Defeating Serbia
The Spanish water polo team secured the bronze medal at the Fukuoka World Championship this morning, as they triumphed over Serbia with a score of 9:6 (3:3, 3:2, 2:0, 1:1) in the third place match.
For Serbia, Strahinja Rašović netted three goals, Vuk Milojević contributed two, and Nikola Jakšić added one goal.
On the Spanish side, Alvaro Ortega Grandanos was the standout scorer with three goals, while Filipe Perone followed closely with two goals.
The rejuvenated Serbian squad initially took the lead at 1:0, but Spain rallied to 2:1. The match remained tightly contested, with both teams exchanging goals, and Spain entered halftime with a narrow 6:5 advantage.
Serbia struggled offensively and failed to score in the third period, which Spain capitalized on. By the fourth quarter, Spain had extended their lead to 9:5, effectively sealing their victory.
Today at 11 a.m., Greece and Hungary will face off in the gold medal match.
