“Is the Future Set to Claim Another Trophy and Break a New Record?”

Just one question remains before the final round of the Meridianbet 1. CFL, which kicks off today at 17:30 PM—who will join Jezero in the play-offs?
It has been confirmed that Budućnost is the champion. Additionally, they received a license for Europe yesterday. It’s now official that the second-placed Petrovac cannot qualify for the Conference League due to administrative issues, allowing third-placed Sutjeska to claim that spot.
From the last round, it is understood that Otranto will be relegated and Jezero is heading to the play-off for survival. The only uncertainty remaining is who will be the other team contending for the play-off? The candidates are Mornar, Arsenal, and Jedinstvo.
CELEBRATORY MOOD
The final round is expected to have a festive atmosphere, as the players of Budućnost will be awarded the championship trophy at the “DG Arena” following their match against Dečić.
Before this celebration, the team led by Ivan Brnović, who comfortably sits in first place with 24 points ahead of Petrovac, will aim to set a new record by maximizing their points this season—currently standing at 84 with one round remaining.
Since the 2016/17 season, the First CFL has operated on a four-round basis featuring 36 rounds, with Budućnost achieving the highest score to date. Mladen Milinković holds the record from four years ago with 85 points.
This Podgorica team has the opportunity to reach 87 points if they secure their 28th win of the season by defeating Dečić for the third time in four encounters.
– The emotions are sublime and unique because we all worked diligently, exerting significant effort and making challenging decisions, which ultimately led to one of the most successful seasons in the club’s history—stated Budućnost’s coach Ivan Brnović, whose squad has already set a record for the number of goals scored in the Montenegrin championship (90).
– Alongside our dominance in the championship, I want to highlight the development of our young players.
Buducnost has netted 90 goals this season, setting a record in the Montenegrin Football League.
Some even younger talents will see action today.
– Mugosha will start, while Brajovic, Saranovic, Popovic, and Perisic will be on the bench. He will look for and hopefully seize his opportunity, depending on the match dynamics—Brnović commented.
AROUND THE RELEGATION BATTLE
Among the three teams vying to escape the relegation play-off, only Arsenal is not in control of their destiny: even a victory against Jezero will mean little if Mornar wins against Petrovac and Jedinstvo triumphs in Nikšić.
However, Tivat’s team is the sole home side, and they could avoid the play-offs with a win if neither of their rivals—Jedinstvo over Sutjeska or Mornar over Petrovac—succeeds.
Ultimately, Jezero might surpass Tivat in the standings with a victory over Arsenal, securing eighth place, which offers a more favorable position before the play-offs. The eighth-placed team will face Lovćen, while the ninth will play Rudar.
