Salah Named Premier League Player of the Season
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been awarded the Premier League Player of the Season title.
This season, Salah has netted 28 goals in the Premier League, provided 18 assists, and played a pivotal role in securing the league title for Liverpool ahead of Sunday’s final matches.
He surpassed Alexander Isak of Newcastle by five goals, positioning himself as a strong contender for the Ballon d’Or for top scorer.
The 32-year-old Egyptian striker is just two assists away from matching the seasonal assist record held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, according to Sky.
No player has previously been involved in 46 goals during a 38-game league season, and Salah has the potential to break the record of 47 set by Alan Shearer and Andrew Cole in seasons featuring 42 games.
This marks Salah’s second time receiving the Player of the Season award, having previously won it in the 2017/2018 season.
He joins the ranks of five players who have won the award twice, including Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nemanja Vidic, and Kevin De Bruyne.
Earlier this month, Salah was honored as the Football Writers’ Association’s Player of the Season.
In their last Premier League match, Liverpool will take on Crystal Palace at Anfield this Sunday at 17:00.
