The second day of the Mediterranean Women’s Handball Championship under 17, held in Podgorica, resulted in Montenegro’s first draw and three crucial new points.
Coached by Miloš Perović and Bobana Krstović, the team managed to tie with Croatia 16:16 (3:6, 8:7, 5:3) in the “Verde” hall, earning three out of a possible five points — one for each of the two segments won and one for the draw.
Previously, our team exhibited a dominant performance against Kosovo, winning 26:11.
The match against Croatia was tense until the final moments, with the standout player, Martina Knežević, scoring the equalizer just five seconds before the end.
Throughout the game, the “lionesses” were spearheaded in offense by Nejla Hodžić, who netted five goals. Ivana Savić added three goals, while Andrea Jovanović and Martina Knežević each contributed two. Jovana Tešović, Maša Ulićević, Mia Ulićević, and Anđela Vujović also found the back of the net.
Our national team is set to play their third preliminary round match at the same venue on Wednesday, where they will face Slovakia at noon.
