Alabar Committed to Expanding in Montenegro: South or North?

14. July 2025. 13:57

The Arab investor Mohamed Alabar (Mohamed Alabbabar) expressed his commitment to developing projects in Montenegro, whether in the southern or northern regions, and anticipates more details in the upcoming months regarding what will be realized.

In an interview with Forbes magazine, he mentioned discussions with various business figures and several municipalities, exploring options along the coast and in the mountains, including the potential for a resort in Buljarica.

Although he decided against pursuing the Great Beach in Ulcinj, Alabar believes Montenegro holds immense promise, envisioning a hotel by Giorgio Armani gracing its shores.

Why is investing in Montenegro so significant for you?

As an international investor with interests across many nations, I assess a country based on its potential. This potential, along with desirable tourism growth and GDP indicators, underscores Montenegro’s significant prospects.

It seemed like a wonderful opportunity; the natural landscapes, be it the beaches or the mountains, are stunning. The warm welcome from the people further solidifies my belief that this is a worthwhile endeavor.

Do you have any investment plans and have you spoken to our government or local leaders?

I have engaged in discussions with various business leaders regarding potential opportunities. I’ve also conferred with several municipalities, both coastal and mountainous. Within the next month, we should see if any of these ideas materialize, as I am keen on creating something in Montenegro.

What do you intend to construct in Montenegro? Will it be solely apartments, or will it include hotels and resorts?

I focus on residential homes, buildings, apartments, shopping centers, and hotels. If I find a location by the coast, it will likely be tourism-related, potentially a hotel. In the capital, I envision a blend of commercial, residential, and office spaces, and in the mountains, I would love to develop a ski resort.

Could you consider developing something similar to what you envisioned for Buljarica?

Absolutely, if the right location presents itself. I believe Buljarica is a beautiful area in Montenegro, ripe for development.

What are your thoughts regarding the two beaches in Ulcinj?

I believe our approach will encompass both, and we will indeed utilize all beaches by around Sunday.

You have a hotel brand vision. Are you planning to establish something in Montenegro?

Yes, I consider the Vida brand to be a simple and relaxed hotel concept, similar to a property we have in Marasi. I think this would be an attractive addition. Additionally, I own hotels under the Giorgio Armani brand and may consider establishing such a hotel along the coast to help elevate the area’s offerings.
