Czech Republic Stays Undefeated, Overpowers Montenegrin Pioneers

The pioneering Montenegrin women’s volleyball team faced a defeat against the Czech Republic, ending the match with a score of 3:0 (25:19, 25:22, 25:17) during the 5th round of the European Championship taking place in Tirana and Pristina.

Despite not winning a set, Coach Petar Koković’s team exhibited strong resistance against the favorites, currently at the top of Group II in Pristina and remaining undefeated in the tournament.

In the first set, the Montenegrin team kept pace with their Czech rivals. The score was tied at 12:12 until the Czechs found their rhythm towards the end of the set, securing a 1:0 lead.

Nađa Peković and her teammates showed impressive play in the second set, building a 9:5 lead and extending it to 14:10. However, the talented Montenegrins couldn’t maintain their advantage, as the Czech Republic executed a series of points to turn the score around. After a fierce battle, the Czechs leveled the score at 22:22 and clinched three consecutive points to lead 2:0 in sets.

In the third set, Montenegro attempted to recover but couldn’t replicate their performance from the previous set. The Czech Republic capitalized on this, achieving their fifth victory in the championship and remaining unbeaten in the group stage.

Klara Đukić was once again the standout player for Montenegro, scoring 12 points, while Sofija Duletić contributed 9 points.

Tuesday marks a rest day in the championship. Montenegro has two upcoming matches to look forward to: one against Turkey on Wednesday at 3 p.m., followed by a game against Slovenia the next day at 12:30 p.m.
